About Mediation House
What We Stand For
At Mediation House, we believe that conflict — however painful — carries within it the seeds of resolution. Our purpose is to help you find those seeds, nurture them, and reach agreements that work for everyone involved, especially your children.
We are a Sydney-based mediation practice offering professional, accredited Family Dispute Resolution services. We work with separating families, co-parents, and individuals navigating some of the most challenging moments of their lives — with empathy, impartiality and genuine care.
Lead Mediator
Michael Tyler is the founder and lead mediator of Mediation House. With an unusually broad academic background spanning science, law, technology and communication, Michael brings a uniquely multidisciplinary perspective to every mediation — one that prioritises practical outcomes, human dignity and the best interests of children.
Michael’s journey to mediation has been anything but conventional. From a foundation in marine biology to a career in law and dispute resolution, he has developed a deep understanding of how people think, communicate and make decisions under pressure. This rare combination of analytical rigour and human empathy is at the heart of the Mediation House approach.
Michael has applied to be a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP), pending accreditation by the Australian Attorney-General’s Department under the Family Law Act 1975. Accredited FDRPs are authorised to issue Section 60I Certificates, which are legally required before most parenting matters can proceed to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

Our Approach
Impartial & Child-Focused
Our mediators remain strictly neutral throughout every session. We don’t take sides, make judgements or impose outcomes. Instead, we create a structured, safe environment where both parties can speak, be heard and work towards their own agreement — always with the wellbeing of children at the centre of every discussion.
Tailored to Your Situation
No two families are the same, and no two mediations should be either. We take the time to understand your unique circumstances before any session begins, and we adapt our approach accordingly — whether your dispute involves parenting arrangements, property, finances or a combination of all three.
Confidential by Design
Everything discussed in mediation is confidential and protected by law. It cannot be used as evidence in subsequent court proceedings. This confidentiality gives both parties the freedom to speak openly and explore options without fear of consequences, which is fundamental to reaching genuine agreement.
Emotionally Supportive
We understand that family breakdown is one of life’s most stressful experiences. Our role is not only to facilitate agreement but to ensure both parties feel respected, safe and supported throughout the process. We work at a pace that suits you.
